Dalagang Probinsyana

The song Probinsyana is one of Bamboo's single on their third album We Stand Alone Together. Probinsyana, just like the other songs in this album is also a revival. The original version of Probinsyana was first heard in 1985. And this year, it was given a different version by the hottest band in the country- Bamboo.

Here's the lyrics of Probinsyana and Bamboo's first live performance in Unang Hirit.

PROBINSYANA
Bamboo

ang probinsyana ay di basta-basta
mahirap bolahin, kailangan haranahin
ang kanyang lakad, mabibighani ka
di biro, babaeng probinsyana

mahirap amuhin ang probinsyana
pag napaibig, wala kang duda

'pag sa umaga pisngi namumula
pag nakasaya maaakit ka
ang kanyang lakad, mabibighani ka
di biro, babaeng probinsyana

mahirap amuhin ang probinsyana
pag napaibig, wala kang duda
probinsyana! probinsyana!

aking diwata saan ka pumunta
lumuwas ng Maynila dala ng pangarap niya
ang kanyang lakad mabibighani ka
nasaan na aking Maria Clara

mahirap amuhin ang probinsyana
pag napaibig, wala kang duda
probinsyana, probinsyana...

  1. My God! This is shameful! Does he knows that the song "Probinsyana" belongs to a legendary rock and roll artist? Mahiya naman kayo! Give respect to the real person who made this song which is Mr. Edmund Fortuno.

  2. Well, as far as I know, Bamboo never said that the song belongs to them. I f you watched SOP last Sunday, 25 February 2007, they also give credits to the original composers/performers of the songs featured in their third album. You can also check the acknowledgments in there to verify it.

    Thanks for the info anyway....

To Mr. Edmund Fortuno, thanks! :D

  3. what's the fuss? Bamboo isn't claiming anything to this song! It's not their fault that the song wasn't a hit until they made a version on it!

  4. for anonymous, watch your grammar first before leaving a comment in this Bamboo-ruled blog. You're the one who should be shameful.
if Probinsyana belongs to a LEGENDARY ROCK N ROLL artist, so be it! Bamboo revived the song and gave justice to it. The band didnt claim that Probinsyana is their original...as far as i know and what I believe in, Bamboo did the song that not only his believers would love listening to.
so, hail to the future Rock n Roll Legend! Bwahahahahaha!

  5. I would like to take this chance to clarify some issues regarding the song probinsyana. This song was originally composed by Mr. Edmund Fortuno during the 70's for the rock group anak bayan. Knowing that he was the original composer it has been a dissapointment to see that he has not been honored for his body of work for his name is not even in the credits. Mr. Edmund Fortuno is one of the leading pioneers of pinoy rock. He was an original member of the Juan dela Cruz band, and other pinoy rock supergroups. It is only right that he should be honored and remembered despite his passing in respect to his family and loved ones. I acknowledge the fact that this is a "bamboo-ruled blog" but in respect to Mr. Edmund Fortuno and his family we should be mindful of our comments. Some of us may have not been even born during the time probinsyana was first released by anak bayan and it was a popular song during those days, even before Mr. Edmund Fortuno's untimely demise. Yes bamboo has indeed given the song a chance for it's legacy to be continued but they have forgotten the most basic of all principles which is to give respect where it is due...

  6. In behalf of the Fortuno family, i am thanking the fans and supporters of my late legendary husband Edmond "Bosyo" Fortuno who are just like me, wanting to give credit where it is due. Bamboo did not ask permission from us to record the song and i only learned that is was already recorded w/out Edmonds name on the album.Your comment that this is just for the reason to make Edmond Fortuno famous is an insult and degrading considering the contribution he gave to the pinoy rock music...I just want to clear this once and for all as a wife and still want to continue the legacy of music Bosyo left behind. The bottomline is respect!Just becos your famous today doesnt mean andyan ka sa taas lagi!!..Edmond Fortuno composed the song Probinsyana and we just want the band and and everybody connected with the band, manager and groupies, roadies to give whats due him,the credit and the royalty.Para good karma na din for Bamboo the new breed of Filipino Rock Musicians. Lumingon kayo sa pinangaligan…
