Vic Mercado- THE Drummer

Its has been for two nights now that I haven't write anything here. Got nothing to sensible to write perhaps, that's why. I still got nothing interesting to write aside from if I will write about Bamboo. But if I would, I'm afraid it would make my blog boring.. Actually, I don't know! Let's see... I been writing about Bamboo's album and song for as quite sometime now... Hopefully, it wouldn't hurt if I write about their hot drummer Vic Mercado, right?

I got no profile of him t
o present you with. I had difficulty searching information about Vic Mercado. for an avid fan- a true believer, this fact is quite disappointing, right? tsk. tsk. tsk.

Playing the drums has always been his language. Vic Mercado learned to play the drums when he was only 12 years old in his hometown Iloilo. Since they did not have a drum set, he was taught without actual drums but merely by singing and tapping the notes on his lap and stomping his feet on the floor. His first gig, only 14 years old and usually after school, was at jazz lounge, filling in for his teacher. That was followed by playing for show bands for a couple of years and at 17, he left the country with his band to play around Asia.

He came back home when he was 21 and decided to settle in Manila where he played at local bars around the metro. He then studied under Mar Dizon, also a Zildjian local artist, then eventually got to play for the band Passage, taking the place of Michael Alba, another Zildjian local artist. After Passage he decided to play in the rock scene with several different local bands.

Now he's with one of the country's top rock bands, Bamboo. In February 2004, they released their first album, As the Music Plays, under the EMI-PolyEast label and the said album is now double platinum. (And the rest, as they say, is history.)

Ain't FEELIN' ALRIGHT

Shit! I'm quite excited of making an entry about buying myself a copy of Bamboo's third album, We Stand Alone Together. But sad to say, I feel really bad right now... I think I'm having a flu and it really irritates me! Geez! I hate being sick! Who on earth would want to be sick anyway?!

I can really relate to parts of Bamboo's version of Feelin' Alright- You feelin' all right,I'm not feelin' too good myself. This is so unfair! This night should be at least an ordinary night for me. But I feel sick! My throat hurts and I even have difficulty coughing and some kind of watery element starts dripping from my nose... I am indeed experiencing all the symptoms of Flu and I know this isn't the worst... I just hope I'll get better by Monday.

By the way, you might be curious about the complete lyrics of Feelin' Alright- the song which is included in Bamboo's third album. Surprisingly, I was still able to look for it. It's an original song by Dave Mason.

Feelin'Alright
Bamboo

Seems I got to have a change of scene
Every night I have the strangest dream
Imprisoned by the way it could have been
Left you on my own or so it seemed
I got to leave before I start to scream
But someone locked the door and took the keys

{Refrain}
You feelin' all right, oh oh
I'm not feelin' too good myself, oh oh
You feelin' all right, oh oh
I'm not feelin' too good myself, oh oh

Boy, you sure took me for one big ride
And even now I sit and I wonder why
Then when I think of you, I start myself to cry
Just can't waste my time, I must get by
Gotta stop believin' in all your lies
'Cause there's too much to do before I die

{Refrain}

Feelin' all right
Ooh, don't you get too lost, in all I say
In a better time, you know I really felt that way
But that was then and now you know it's today
I can't get safe, so I guess I'm here to stay
'Til someone comes along and takes my place
With a different name, and a different face

{Refrain, repeat to fade}

Bamboo's New Website

The 23rd of February is the album launch of the hottest rock band of the country- Bamboo. The songs of the band's 3rd album entitled We Stand Alone Together are all revivals like:
To further promote this Bamboo's Official Website was given a new look! It's more simple and has less clutter. It is also easy to navigate which is very favorable to its users. Simply put, I like it! A lot... I didn't say that I the previous one wasn't really great. Actually, it was! Both were great! What I don't like with the previous site was the clutter. If you're the user and you stumble upon the homepage, you can't really decide where to look first! Well, Unless you want to listen to Bamboo's featured song, then you can directly look at the right side! That will only happen if you've been navigating the site a lot of times already that you're very familiar with it.

Anyways, here's a peek of Bamboo Official Site! I hope you'll love it just like me!

Dalagang Probinsyana

The song Probinsyana is one of Bamboo's single on their third album We Stand Alone Together. Probinsyana, just like the other songs in this album is also a revival. The original version of Probinsyana was first heard in 1985. And this year, it was given a different version by the hottest band in the country- Bamboo.

Here's the lyrics of Probinsyana and Bamboo's first live performance in Unang Hirit.

PROBINSYANA
Bamboo

ang probinsyana ay di basta-basta
mahirap bolahin, kailangan haranahin
ang kanyang lakad, mabibighani ka
di biro, babaeng probinsyana

mahirap amuhin ang probinsyana
pag napaibig, wala kang duda

'pag sa umaga pisngi namumula
pag nakasaya maaakit ka
ang kanyang lakad, mabibighani ka
di biro, babaeng probinsyana

mahirap amuhin ang probinsyana
pag napaibig, wala kang duda
probinsyana! probinsyana!

aking diwata saan ka pumunta
lumuwas ng Maynila dala ng pangarap niya
ang kanyang lakad mabibighani ka
nasaan na aking Maria Clara

mahirap amuhin ang probinsyana
pag napaibig, wala kang duda
probinsyana, probinsyana...

Killing in the Name

I stumble upon Bamboo's version of the song Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine. Since its was performed by Bamboo, I got interested and so here's the video and the lyrics of the song! :D

Killing in the Name
Bamboo

Killing in the name of!
Some of those that were forces are the same that bore crosses
Some of those that were forces are the same that bore crosses
Some of those that were forces are the same that bore crosses
Some of those that were forces are the same that bore crosses
Huh!

Killing in the name of!
Killing in the name of

And now you do what they told ya (11 times)
But now you do what they told ya
Well now you do what they told ya

Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, theyre the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, theyre the chosen whites
Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, theyre the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, theyre the chosen whites

Some of those that were forces are the same that bore crosses
Some of those that were forces are the same that bore crosses
Some of those that were forces are the same that bore crosses
Some of those that were forces are the same that bore crosses
Uggh!

Killing in the name of!
Killing in the name of

And now you do what they told ya (4 times)
And now you do what they told ya, now youre under control ( 7 times)
And now you do what they told ya!

Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, theyre the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, theyre the chosen whites
Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, theyre the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, theyre the chosen whites
Come on!

(guitar solo: yeah! come on!)

Fuck you, I wont do what you tell me (8 times spoken becoming a shout by the 8th time)
Fuck you, I wont do what you tell me! (8 times, shouted)
Motherfucker!
Uggh!

Englishman in New York Ep.II

Before leaving after tonight's shift, I decided to check my other Yahoo IM. The one I saved here in my blogger account. Surprisingly, I got a number of off line messages from my colleagues at work. But one strikes me the most was from someone who was asking for another link for my previous blog entry about Bamboo's version of Englishman in New York. This someone's IM address was mucho31s ( i guess). Funny, but this someone addressed me as Sir instead of Ma'am... ahahahha...

It;s no big deal actually. I just wanna thank this someone (I don't wanna address him as mucho31s because it may not be the right IM address) coz he was able to inform me that there's something wrong with the link in entry.. :)

Hopefully, he could stumble upon my blog again to find this new link of my multiply account that I'll be giving. Here it is:

Francis "CHIZ" Escudero for SENATOR

For the past years this 37-year old politician from Sorsogon had been famous all over the country through trimedia. Francis Joseph Guevarra Escudero or Chiz was notorious of his opinions against the present administration. With this, many hated him but more people loved him. At 37 he's quite eminent to the Filipino youth. Well, I think he became more recognized by the young generation generation because most people say, he looks like Bamboo! And I agree to that! He somehow looks like Bamboo...

After seeing his campaign ad last night, I decided to browse Chiz' website. I heard from one of his interviews that as a candidate having inadequate budget, Chiz wanted to make use of every resource available. For me, its a good marketing/ campaign strategy knowing that he wanted to focus on young ones and the net is somehow an effective medium to reach his "target market". Though I believe there's no assurance, the internet can offer wide opportunities for someone like Chiz! What d'ya think? ;-)

I have also checked Chiz' Friendster account the other night. A friend, who is also a supporter mentioned that the account was only created this January 2007 and she believe it was made just for his campaign. Well, can you take it against him? I likewise believe it has something to do with his campaign. But who cares? It's another way of promoting yourself to the voters. Its just that other candidates weren't able to make use of it and opted to use the common strategy.

Know what? I just wish Francis Escudero will be lucky to win this year's election. I will definitely vote for him. It's not just because he's cute like Kobe Vidanes of Goin' Bulilit or as good looking as Bamboo Mañalac but because I was convinced by this welcome statement:

Be it strong views or opposing opinions…
Be it brilliant or outlandish schemes…

Be it truth seekers or just the plain curious
All these and more are welcome in my online office.

More than just a venue for finding out more about my public and personal life or the latest news on the campaign trail, consider this as a free zone for exchanges of ideas and insights. I appreciate hearing anything and everything from you.

Huwag kayong pumayag na manood, pumalakpak, ngumiti at kumaway sa isang gilid lamang. Sana’y makilahok kayo sa paghubog ng ating kasaysayan.

Sincerely,

See?! how can I be so stupid to be convinced by these statements I found in his site?! But kidding aside, I see him to be someone who can speak for the young generations. Besides the Senate needs someone younger with fresh ideas and opinions for the country. Pardon me, but a position in the Senate is quite vital and for me it doesn't need actors and actresses having no political background. It needs Francis Escudero!

P.S. This is a personal opinion and I wasn't paid for this... heheheh... But please let's all Say CHIZ!!! ;-)

SLAPSHOCK in ILOILO

I guess it's the third time Slapshock visited Iloilo. I wasn't able to come but Kessen did! Well, I think she should! She was my influencer. Probably if not for her, I wouldn't have time listening to Slapshock's music! My friend was lucky enough to take pictures of the band during their performance at Robinson's Place Iloilo. I was likewise lucky that I got copies of her pictures with the band! If not for her, I wouldn't have anything to put in my blog right now!

Seeing Jamir's pictures made me feel a bit disappointed that I didn't come! He's kinda cute you know! I could have at least saw him in person... Let's not forget Chi coz he's also cute, but Jamir for me is more attractive! My other friend (who doesn't want me to mention his name, so lets just call him Edward) even said that in one of the pictures, Jamir looks "less addict". What the heck! whatever it may be- addict or less addict, he still looks attractive!

You might be wondering why I wasn't reaaly talking about Slapshock's music. Honestly, I just started listening to them about a year ago when I had the chance to get hold of the copy of their latest album SILENCE. I have also seen then in some music channels over cable television which made me more aware of their existence in the rap-rock scene. Around five to six years ago I got hold of a copy of write-up about the band from an official publication of a sorority in my school (lucky for those sorority members!). It was an interview about how they met and how the band was formed. I actually have forgotten the details but it was pretty interesting. :-)

ghost in Love

Its almost Valentine's Day. I don't really know if others can feel it, but somehow I do... Though I had difficulty working on my daily task, its surprising that I still have time to video stream! For the past weeks, I have been watching a Taiwanese series and its only tonight that a certain line from the series hit me. It says:

"Real love is like a ghost. Everyone is talking about it but hardly anyone has seen it..."

Well, what can you say? Me? Simple... PAMATAY! I'd rather not reiterate on that. The definition could be debatable. Even real love is debatable (i guess)...

56 Ways on How to Increase Traffic on your Blog by Seth Godin

I have gone through a blog last night when I decided to search on how to increase traffic on one's blog site. This blog was entitled, "How to Get Traffic for your Blog" . Seth Godin shares 56 ways on how to increase traffic in your blog. Well, I don't really know if I can do all those 56 ways for my blog... lols
  • Here are the ways Seth Godin has listed on his blog:
  1. Use lists.
  2. Be topical... write posts that need to be read right now.
  3. Learn enough to become the expert in your field.
  4. Break news.
  5. Be timeless... write posts that will be readable in a year.
  6. Be among the first with a great blog on your topic, then encourage others to blog on the same topic.
  7. Share your expertise generously so people recognize it and depend on you.
  8. Announce news.
  9. Write short, pithy posts.
  10. Encourage your readers to help you manipulate the technorati top blog list.
  11. Don't write about your cat, your boyfriend or your kids.
  12. Write long, definitive posts.
  13. Write about your kids.
  14. Be snarky. Write nearly libelous things about fellow bloggers, daring them to respond (with links back to you) on their blog.
  15. Be sycophantic. Share linklove and expect some back.
  16. Include polls, meters and other eye candy.
  17. Tag your posts. Use del.ico.us.
  18. Coin a term or two.
  19. Do email interviews with the well-known.
  20. Answer your email.
  21. Use photos. Salacious ones are best.
  22. Be anonymous.
  23. Encourage your readers to digg your posts. (and to use furl and reddit). Do it with every post.
  24. Post your photos on flickr.
  25. Encourage your readers to subscribe by RSS.
  26. Start at the beginning and take your readers through a months-long education.
  27. Include comments so your blog becomes a virtual water cooler that feeds itself.
  28. Assume that every day is the beginning, because you always have new readers.
  29. Highlight your best posts on your Squidoo lens.
  30. Point to useful but little-known resources.
  31. Write about stuff that appeals to the majority of current blog readers--like gadgets and web 2.0.
  32. Write about Google.
  33. Have relevant ads that are even better than your content.
  34. Don't include comments, people will cross post their responses.
  35. Write posts that each include dozens of trackbacks to dozens of blog posts so that people will notice you.
  36. Run no ads.
  37. Keep tweaking your template to make it include every conceivable bell or whistle.
  38. Write about blogging.
  39. Digest the good ideas of other people, all day, every day.
  40. Invent a whole new kind of art or interaction.
  41. Post on weekdays, because there are more readers.
  42. Write about a never-ending parade of different topics so you don't bore your readers.
  43. Post on weekends, because there are fewer new posts.
  44. Don't interrupt your writing with a lot of links.
  45. Dress your blog (fonts and design) as well as you would dress yourself for a meeting with a stranger.
  46. Edit yourself. Ruthlessly.
  47. Don't promote yourself and your business or your books or your projects at the expense of the reader's attention.
  48. Be patient.
  49. Give credit to those that inspired, it makes your writing more useful.
  50. Ping technorati. Or have someone smarter than me tell you how to do it automatically.
  51. Write about only one thing, in ever-deepening detail, so you become definitive.
  52. Write in English.
  53. Better, write in Chinese.
  54. Write about obscure stuff that appeals to an obsessed minority.
  55. Don't be boring.
  56. Write stuff that people want to read and share.

Give My Love- Edward Chun mp3

The long search was over! I already had the mp3 of the song Give My Love by Edward Chun. Give My Love was one of the song popularized by a koreanovela, Save the Last Dance for Me. The song was really nice just like the series. lolz

Click here and the Downloads link to download the song.

Give My Love
Edward Chun

When I look in your eyes I can see that you
Want to be with me but you're so scared
And I don't know what to say or do
But the tears keep falling from your eyes
And I know that
Times won't change my love
And I can't do nothing to keep you

Oh, I'll give my love oh when I hold you tight
Give my love through kisses oh so bright
And you know that I can't change my love
Take my love all through the night

As the hours pass away
You think that love ain't here to stay
Feel a beat from your chest
But you don't give doubt a moment's rest
You dream the future and all you see is dark
Listen to your heart, baby, the truth will set sparks

Now I'll give my love oh when I hold you tight
Give my love through kisses oh so bright
And you know that I can't change my love
Take my love all through the night

Now I'll give my love oh when I hold you tight
Give my love through kisses oh so bright
And you know that time won't change my love
Take my love all through the night

I'll give my love oh when I hold you tight
Give my love, through kisses oh so bright
And you know that I can't change my love
Take my love all through the night

Englishman in New York

Englishman in New York was originally sang by Sting and its the song I'm so into right now. Here's Bamboo's version of this cool song. Listen here.

Englishman In New York
Bamboo

I don't drink coffee I take tea my dear
I like my toast done on one side
And you can hear it in my accent when I talk
I'm an Englishman in New York

See me walking down Fifth Avenue
A walking cane here at my side
I take it everywhere I walk
I'm an Englishman in New York

I'm an alien I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York
I'm an alien I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York

If, "Manners maketh man" as someone said
Then he's the hero of the day
It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile
Be yourself no matter what they say

I'm an alien I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York
I'm an alien I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York

Modesty, propriety can lead to notoriety
You could end up as the only one
Gentleness, sobriety are rare in this society
At night a candle's brighter than the sun

Takes more than combat gear to make a man
Takes more than a license for a gun
Confront your enemies, avoid them when you can
A gentleman will walk but never run

If, "Manners maketh man" as someone said
Then he's the hero of the day
It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile
Be yourself no matter what they say

I'm an alien I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York
I'm an alien I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York
